What an amazing session. Was on the water for over 4 hours. I turned up and
some guys had just been out and were packing up as the wind had died. I
decided to rig my 6.3 anyway and got out there. The wind filled in again
and loads of windsurfers started to turn up.
Had a great session scremaing along back and forth in the wild gusts and
managed quite a few big jumps with 1 or 2 wipeouts which was good fun.
Came in after the 2 hour mark and changed my fin up to a 340 and it made a
huge difference. Wasn't spinning out as much and the whole feel of the
setup was much more relaxed.
It was pretty gusty with some lulls where there wasnt even enough wind to
waterstart and then there were times when I was hanging on for dear life.
At some points the gusts were that strong they lifted me and the rig
completely out of the water resulting in me wiping out. One gust
transported me into the path of another guy coming the other way who bailed
as well.
The standard of sailing here was pretty high with only 1 or 2
intermediates. there were Loads of guys doing some amazing freestyle stuff.
I packed in at 7ish and there were still people rigging up, there must of
been at least 40 sailors out at one point although there was loadsa room in
the bay although rigging up is quite tricky on a tiny shingly shell filled
beach which rips your feet to bits. In all a top session, hope tomorrow
brings the same.
